How we inspect a car before it ships

What our specialists check before a car leaves China: bodywork, electronics, software and the spec you ordered. Plus what happens if something doesn’t match.

Every car we sell is checked in China before it’s loaded for shipping. You get the report with photos, and nothing ships until you’ve seen it.

Bodywork and paint

We go round the car panel by panel with a paint thickness gauge. Readings that are much higher than the rest of the car usually mean a repaint, and we ask the seller why. We also check panel gaps, glass and lights for chips and cracks.

Electronics and battery

We connect a diagnostic tool and read the error log, check the high-voltage battery’s state of health and test charging on both AC and DC. On plug-in hybrids we also start the engine and let it run up to temperature.

Software and spec

We compare the car against your order: version, paint, interior, wheels and options. Then we note the software version so our workshop can update it after delivery.

If something doesn’t match

You decide what happens next. We can ask the seller to fix it, renegotiate the price or find a different car. Your deposit is protected until you approve the report.
